University of Wisconsin Botany Garden

Madison, WI

Hahahaha! Soooo plant nerdy! The University of Wisconsin Botany Garden is “the first garden in the world to be based on the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group APGIII system of molecular classification of plants and is updating to APGIV.” I’ve known some great botanists over the years but this is exactly why I didn’t major in botany. Give me horticulture any day! The garden was aesthetically ok and even included art surprisingly, plus some plants I’d never or rarely seen like upright wild ginger and wild licorice. But this brainy garden was certainly not showy. It may delight those with a need to classify things– maybe even you if you visit Madison– but give me a garden to dazzle the eyes or fill the stomach please.
