Rotary Botanical Gardens

Janesville, WI

“A Kaleidoscope of Color” is the 2019 theme of the Rotary Botanical Gardens in Janesville WI. I usually prefer a harmonious colorscheme over a cacophany of color but I admit I succumbed to the fever and came home and added plants of every shade to my garden. Whew! This place is infectious and it’s not a condition I feel like I need to treat in a hurry. The gardens occupy 20 acres with 4000 varieties of plants in 26 garden styles– there’s even a Scottish garden. Kudos to the staff and volunteers that make this place possible! It’s hard to believe this was previously a sand and gravel pit. A retired orthodontist approached the local Rotary clubs and together they created something really special. The gardens opened in 1988.

On to the Japanese Garden where a wall of Hakone grass took my breath away.
