Perennials (rule!)

Long ago, I remember a book of amusing horticultural definitions. My apologies for not coming up with the title or author– but the definition of “perennial” was this– Any plant that, had it lived, would have come up year after year! Not far from the truth! A perennial is a plant that lives more than a year or two, has herbaceous (not woody) top growth, and probably dies back to the ground each winter.
